About Me

Hello, I'm James Woodward. As the Secretary of the Injury-Free Arts Academy and an accomplished Injury-Free Artist, I bring my expertise in violin and viola performance to support our mission. I am classically trained with a background in jazz and early music, having received my Bachelor's degree in Music from Pacific Union College with emphases in violin and viola performance.

My musical journey has taken me around the world, performing in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, as well as in Prague, Germany, and Ireland. As a Bay Area local, I have performed with ensembles including the Stanford Summer Symphony, Stanford Symphony Orchestra, and Stanford Philharmonia. These experiences have enriched my understanding of both historic and contemporary music techniques.

In my dual role at the Injury-Free Arts Academy, I accompany Professor Liu in her piano concerts, performing duets based on her innovative arrangements. I am passionate about exploring the sound world of the violin and viola, and I strive to make music an accessible and transformative experience for everyone. My approach emphasizes technique and creativity, ensuring that every student can reach their full potential while developing a profound appreciation for music.

At the Injury-Free Arts Academy, I am dedicated to fostering a supportive and thriving community for artists. My commitment to both historic and new techniques aligns with the academy's mission to promote injury-free performance and empower artists. I am honored to contribute to this mission and to support the artistic journeys of our community members.
